June 27, 2016 from John Curley:
Scenario 1:
http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/63106348/v31195639/ws2013-gm6-ellsbury-eludes-rundown-slides-in-safely
The Cardinals made a lot of mistakes in this run-down.
Notice only good thing was the First Throw by the First baseman stepping out of the baseline.
Second throw by the First baseman threw over Ellsbury then followed his throw to his glove side-ALWAYS VEER OFF TO THE THROWING HAND. He could have tagged Ellsbury.
Second baseman on the return was faking... don't fake, run fast and throw,
Shortstop, what was he doing???
Scenario 2:
http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/8877966/v31155419/alcs-gm5-middlebrooks-takes-third-on-headsup-play
Defense: know the situation at hand and what to do ahead of time.
Running bases: take advantage when the defense falters. By the way, Middlebrooks also made a great back door slide .
Scenario 3:

Rules, rules, rules... there are more of them than we'll see in 6 games but remember knowledge is power! Know the rules. This was the correct call.
